Welcome to WhatTheGem.com!
This website documents my personal journey as an aspiring gemologist. I am not a certified gemologist or gem appraiser, and the information provided here is for informational and entertainment purposes only. I use my own privately owned instruments and gem collection to explore and learn about gemology, and I share this process as a hobby—primarily through TikTok and Instagram.
Nothing on this website should be interpreted as professional advice, a gemological appraisal, or a scientifically verified conclusion. I do my best to be accurate, but I make no guarantees of completeness, reliability, or accuracy. You should consult a qualified professional before making any decisions related to gemstones or gemological testing.

No Professional Advice
This site reflects my personal hobby and opinions. I am not offering professional gem identification, valuation, or certification services.

I try to be accurate, but mistakes can happen. Use the information here at your own risk.

Gifts Policy
I truly appreciate the generosity of those who wish to send gemstones or other gifts to support my gemology journey. To ensure transparency and smooth handling, please note:
Voluntary and Unconditional: By sending me a gift, you confirm that it is given voluntarily and without any expectation of compensation, services, publicity, or return of the item.
No Professional Services: I do not provide professional evaluations, appraisals, or certification of any gifts received.
Postal Instructions: Gifts should be sent in an envelope (not a parcel) and clearly marked as “Gift” on the packaging to help avoid customs issues and enable smooth processing by Swiss Post.
Ownership: Once received, gifts become my personal property and I reserve the right to keep, test, display, or otherwise handle them as I wish.
Acknowledgments: While I may occasionally share gifted items on social media or my website, this is not guaranteed.
Privacy Notice
I don't collect any personal information from visitors unless you reach out to me directly (e.g., through a contact form or email).
If you send me a gift by post, I may see your name and return address as part of standard postal handling. I do not store, publish, or share this information, except where legally required for customs clearance or postal processing.
If this policy changes in the future—for example, if I offer services or a newsletter—I’ll update this notice.
Would you like me to also add a separate page or section for the postal address (with the envelope instructions) so you can easily link to it in your bio or social posts?
Thanks for visiting whatthegem.com and feel free to contact me for any notes or suggestions.
